The Invaders

The InvadersOne of my favorite shows as a kid was The Invaders. It was a wonderful, albeit short-lived, show. The narrator at the beginning of each episode explained the series premise:
The Invaders - Alien beings from a dying planet
Their destination: The Earth
Their purpose: To make it their world
David Vincent has seen them
For him it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a short-cut that he never found.
It began with a closed deserted diner ...
... and a man too long without sleep to continue his journey.
It began with the landing of a craft from another galaxy
Now, David Vincent knows that the Invaders are here,
That they have taken human form.
Somehow he must convince a disbelieving world that the nightmare has already begun.
I loved the creepy theme music. The Invaders was about paranoia. No one believes David Vincent. He wants to warn people that aliens are here but he can't produce any proof. At the same time no one can be trusted. The aliens have infiltrated the police, military, government, etc.

One thing I liked about the show was the alien space craft. It was a classic UFO saucer shape. I had the original Aurora model kit. Looks like the kit has been reissued and you can buy one online.
